Chunghwa Telecom (CHT) has selected Alcatel-Lucent to transform its network in
order to increase its speed, performance and efficiency.
CHT is deploying Multi-Service Edge Router (MSER) network
from Alcatel-Lucent to address demand for high-speed broadband access, IPTV
services, mobile video and gaming
Based on the IP/MPLS routing technology, the MSER network
will support all of CHT’s fixed and mobile broadband network to simplify
network structure, reduce the cost of operations and build up a high service
quality and reliability network.
The Alcatel-Lucent routers enable CHT to deliver enhanced
residential video and business services, such as virtual private networks, with
the support of capabilities such as video optimization and ‘Application
Assurance’, which can guarantee that services are delivered with certain
specified quality levels.
According to Chunghwa Telecom, Alcatel-Lucent’s service
routers offer an ideal way for us to prepare our network for the rapid growth
in demand we are seeing for high-bandwidth services like video, both at home
and on the move. Its Multi-Service Edge Routing network is designed with
tomorrow in mind Alcatel-Lucent’s demonstrated commitment to continuously
evolving to offer the latest capabilities.
“The amount of video traffic that networks are carrying
has skyrocketed, and there is no end in sight. The Multi-service Edge Routing
network we have deployed for Chunghwa Telecom really prepares them for a future
that is characterized by smart phones, tablets and other devices accessing a vast
array of high-bandwidth services all the time, from anywhere,” said Ken
Wu, president & managing director of Alcatel-Lucent Taiwan.
Alcatel-Lucent will deploy its IP/MPLS solution, based on
its 7750 Service Router (SR) and 7705 Service Aggregation Router (SAR).
Alcatel-Lucent will also provide CHT with a set of comprehensive professional
services including project management, network design, installation and
commissioning, software integration and operations.
