Aviat Networks signs microwave deal with Globe Telecom

Aviat Networks, a microwave networking solutions provider, has signed multi-year agreements with Globe Telecom in the Philippines.

Globe Telecom will upgrade and expand its network with the Aviat CTR 8540 microwave networking solution as part of its LTE expansion.

“We have chosen the Aviat Networks microwave platform to take advantage of its features as we progressively deploy leading mobile technologies including LTE and LTE Advance. Ultimately, we can continue to empower our almost 50 million mobile customers with their unique digital lifestyle,” said Globe Chief Technical Advisor Robert Tan.

CTR microwave networking solutions are expected to bring down cost with fewer boxes to purchase, deploy and maintain. Globe Telecom will deploy CTR 8540 to increase capacity of the backhaul network, provide synchronization capabilities and improve network reliability.

Globe is deploying LTE-TDD and LTE-FDD broadband access technologies for more coverage and to ensure fast mobile Internet connectivity. Aviat’s CTR 8540 enables reliable microwave networks and provides Globe with an upgrade path to deliver new services including multimedia rich content and broadband data access to the edge of the network.
