Asia Pacific drives Nokia Siemens’ Q4 revenue up 5% to €3.988 billion

Telecom Lead Europe: Nokia Siemens Networks has posted 5 percent increase in revenue at €3.988 billion in Q4 2012 from €3.815 billion in Q4 2011.

Asia Pacific region clocked higher sales during Q4.

The mobile broadband equipment provider’s full year revenue, however, declined 2 percent to €13.779 billion from €14.041 billion in 2011.

The year-on-year increase in Nokia Siemens’ net sales in Q4 2012 was primarily due to higher sales of both infrastructure equipment and services, partially offset by a decline in sales of business areas not consistent with Nokia Siemens Networks’ strategic focus.

In Asia Pacific region, Japan recorded strong growth in sales of both infrastructure equipment and services.

North America also saw strong growth in sales of both infrastructure equipment and services.

Western Europe posted declines in sales of both infrastructure equipment and services.

Nokia Siemens targets to reduce its non-IFRS annualized operating expenses and production overheads by more than €1 billion by the end of 2013, compared to the end of 2011. Nokia Siemens previous target was to reduce its non-IFRS annualized operating expenses and production overheads by €1 billion by the end of 2013, compared to the end of 2011.

In Q4 2012, Nokia Siemens’ contribution to net cash from operating activities was approximately €740 million, primarily due to net profit adjusted for non-cash items. At the end of the fourth quarter 2012, Nokia Siemens’ contribution to the Nokia gross cash was €2.4 billion and contribution to Nokia’s net cash was €1.3 billion.
