Telecom Lead Asia: Aptilo Networks has signed up with a mobile operator in Taiwan for offering its Wi-Fi offload solution.
This is the third mobile operator in Taiwan to utilize Aptilo Networks.
Taiwanese mobile operator has deployed Aptilo Networks’ Aptilo SIM Authentication Server to ensure automatic login experience for users of their existing Wi-Fi network.
In addition, Aptilo is providing carrier-class Wi-Fi offloading solutions to two of the country’s leading Tier-1 mobile operators.
According to Dell’Oro Group, public access small cell equipment comprising Service Provider Wi-Fi (SP Wi-Fi), and evolved WCDMA/LTE and multi-mode WCDMA/LTE/Wi-Fi small cell radios, will drive future growth in the market.
“If we look at all the various small cell markets including residential, enterprise, and public access small cells, we expect the public access market to generate the most rapid growth in the next five years,” said Stefan Pongratz, senior analyst with Dell’Oro Group.
The report says that more than sixty percent of small cell sites using external backhaul will rely on Line of Sight (LOS) and Non-Line of Sight (NLOS) microwave by 2017.
SP Wi-Fi will account for approximately 85 percent of all small cell radio shipments in 2017.
Johan Terve, VP Marketing, Aptilo Networks, says given its large penetration of Wi-Fi-enabled devices, Taiwan is an early mover in the wireless industry.
Aptilo’s SIM Authentication Server is scalable and optimized to deliver an automatic, secure and seamless mobile data offload experience. Aptilo SIM Authentication Server enables users to enjoy an uninterrupted handoff when moving from the 3G network to Wi-Fi. It maximizes security by authenticating users via the SIM card in their mobile device. In this manner the Wi-Fi network becomes as secure as the mobile network.
