Alcatel-Lucent powers IPTV services of Windstream

Telecom network vendor Alcatel-Lucent has supported Windstream, a provider of advanced network communications in the United States, to launch Kinetic, a television service offering IPTV services to 50,000 subscribers in Lincoln, Nebraska.

Alcatel-Lucent has provided its Velocix content delivery network solution as well as consulting and professional services for network design, systems integration, deployment and commissioning of the Windstream IPTV delivery solution.

“Alcatel-Lucent also provided its market leading Velocix content delivery network (CDN),” said Paul Larbey, head of Alcatel-Lucent’s IP Video Business.

Windstream is planning to launch Kinetic using Alcatel-Lucent’s IPTV solutions in additional cities in the future.
Bryan Brooks, vice president of Business Development and Video, said: “Leveraging our 100 percent fiber-backed network, Kinetic features High Definition (HD) channels, whole home DVR service, wireless set top boxes and instant channel change.”
