Alcatel-Lucent improves security and service quality for enterprises

Telecom Lead Europe: Alcatel-Lucent announced that it has
improved the security and service quality for enterprises with the expansion of
its Converged Network Solution with Alcatel-Lucent OmniSwitch 6450.

The expansion now allows employees to use their personal
devices – such as smartphones and tablets to access both personal and
professional content and services while at work at ease.

The Alcatel-Lucent OmniSwitch 6450
substantially increases the access capacity of enterprise networks.

The enhanced security and service allow enterprises to
use personal devices at workplace without compromising the integrity of their
corporate networks.

As importantly, by building application fluency
capabilities into the network we are making it possible for enterprises to
ensure that employees who need guaranteed service quality for bandwidth-heavy
applications, like video conferencing, can get it when they need it,” said
Stephane Robineau, vice president and general manager of Alcatel-Lucent
Enterprise Network Business.

The company said that these new developments bring an
entirely new approach to enterprise networking that the company refers to as
Application Fluency”.

The company’s expanded converged network solution is now
able to identify what kinds of applications are being used by employees at
different times, and give the most critical services priority to ensure a high
quality user experience.

There is undoubtedly an increasing number of challenges
in networking today with the growth and importance of applications. IT managers
would be wise to seek out solutions that have a network aware application layer
that intuitively understands and can configure network flows for an optimal
user experience. The more your network understands about the applications on
it, the less you have to administer,” said Mike Spanbauer, senior industry
analyst, Current Analysis.

Recently, Alcatel-Lucent announced an agreement with Corporacion Nacional de Telecomunicaciones (CNT EP),
a network service provider in Ecuador, for deploying a new 3G mobile
broadband network.
