Aksh Optifibre revenue indicates telecom market growth

Aksh Optifibre today said its revenue reached Rs 130 crore (+19 percent q-o-q) in Q4 and Rs 462 crore (+23 percent y-o-y) in fiscal 2015-16.

The telecom equipment maker posted a net profit of Rs 2.2 crore (Rs 11.2 crore q-o-q) in Q4 and Rs 33.52 crore (Rs 32.11 crore) in fiscal 2015-16.

The global optical fiber demand increased 17 percent to 392 million fiber-km from 334 million fiber-km in 2015. The OFC market is expected to reach $12 billion by 2020 from the current valuation at $7 billion.

The size of India OFC market was more than 16 million fiber km during the last year alone, ranking third globally. Presently, 42,110 gram panchayats have been connected by an OFC network.

Aksh Optifibre has invested Rs 95 crore to expand the capacity of optical fiber by 100  percent, optical fiber cable by 50 percent and fiber reinforced plastic by 200  percent to cater to market demands and is on track to become operational during FY 2016-17.

Aksh Optifibre will also be making an investment of Rs 85 crore for the diversification of its product portfolio to manufacture 200,000 pairs of ophthalmic lenses per day in a phased manner.
