Qualcomm unveils Snapdragon 845; partners reveal strategies

Qualcomm Technologies, at its second annual Snapdragon Technology Summit, announced the latest innovations in its Always Connected PC segment and its next-generation Qualcomm Snapdragon mobile platform.

Alex Katouzian, senior vice president and general manager of mobile for Qualcomm Technologies, unveiled the latest Snapdragon 845 Mobile Platform.

The innovations have already garnered support from Qualcomm’s ecosystem partners including AMD, ASUS, Microsoft, HP, Samsung, Sprint and Xiaomi.

Microsoft reiterated their collaboration on Windows 10 on Snapdragon.

ASUS reconfirmed their association with their first Windows on Snapdragon device: the 2-in-1 convertible ASUS NovaGo, expected to be available early next year.

HP announced a detachable HP ENVY x2 Windows on Snapdragon Mobile PC supporting Gigabit LTE applications.

Sprint announced their intent to support Qualcomm for the new Always Connected PC category to deliver unlimited data to the Windows on Snapdragon ecosystem.

AMD announced plans to bring Qualcomm Technologies modem technology to AMD’s high-performance Ryzen processor platforms. AMD and Qualcomm plan to deliver premium computing platforms with virtually always connected, Gigabit LTE speeds alongside the AMD Ryzen mobile processors’ blazingly fast performance, fluid graphics rendering, and optimal efficiency.

Xiaomi announced that its next flagship smartphone will be powered by Snapdragon 845.
