Qualcomm announces VIVE solutions offering 3 times faster Wi-Fi networks

Qualcomm Atheros announced second generation VIVE solutions, its latest enterprise connectivity platform, with Qualcomm MU | EFX technology.

The company said VIVE solutions make Wi-Fi networks up to three times faster as compared with previous 11ac products and promise to reduce data congestion across enterprise networks.

The new reference design includes Qualcomm Internet Processor (IPQ) and features Wi-Fi security and supports FIPS Level 2 compliance.

Ruckus Wireless has supported Qualcomm Atheros’ enterprise connectivity platform.

“The arrival of 802.11ac technology and more powerful, 5 GHz-capable mobile devices, combined with proliferation of public and private Wi-Fi networks everywhere, will drive the next phase of growth for the enterprise and service provider Wi-Fi markets,” said Selina Lo, president and chief executive officer, Ruckus Wireless.

The new MU-MIMO technology in 802.11ac Wave 2 is critical for injecting more capacity and supporting more concurrent devices in next generation Wi-Fi networks to keep up with mobile usage and traffic growth, said Qualcomm.

VIVE solutions support enterprise features such as mobility with Wi-Fi CERTIFIED Passpoint, precise indoor location capabilities and high resolution spectral analysis, while 4.9 GHz and 5/10 MHz bandwidth channels further set the enterprise platform apart.

Irvind Ghai, senior director, product management, Qualcomm Atheros, said: “The combination of the Qualcomm Internet Processor and VIVE with MU | EFX will profoundly improve workplace connectivity and productivity to deliver always-on access to information, systems and cloud services.”
