Broadcom, ShanghaiTech University announce Wi-Fi City program and IoT center

Chip vendor Broadcom and ShanghaiTech University announced their joint Wi-Fi City program and Internet of Things (IoT) innovation center.

The objective of the Wi-Fi City program is to deploy a carrier grade Wireless LAN network on the school’s new campus. Once the pilot project is complete, they will roll out the networks in larger geographic areas.

The IoT center will focus on developing reference designs that foster the advancement of wearable and other connected devices in the region.

Broadcom CEO and President Scott McGregor said investments in Wi-Fi, IoT and wearable innovation with ShanghaiTech University will strengthen wireless infrastructure city-wide and open the door for the development of new, innovative smart products, accessories and other wearable sensors.
