Aricent signs deal to acquire SmartPlay Technologies

Aricent announced its deal to acquire SmartPlay Technologies, a product engineering services firm.

The acquisition will assist Aricent to become the #1 product engineering services firm in the semiconductor market.

Aricent will have more than 2,000 experts and relationships with 17 of the top 20 semiconductor companies.

Pradeep Vajram, co-founder and CEO of SmartPlay, will become the president of semiconductor business unit of Aricent. He reports to Frank Kern, chief executive officer of Aricent.

SmartPlay has 1,200 employees in India, Germany, Singapore and the U.S. It serves 80 percent of the top 20 semiconductor companies.

Prior to co-founding SmartPlay, Vajram was vice president of engineering at Qualcomm. Qualcomm Bangalore Design Center developed as a strong center of excellence with multiple products under his leadership.
