At the Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2014, Barcelona, Huawei annunced four new smartphones — MediaPad X1, MediaPad M1, Ascend G6 4G, Ascend G6 – and TalkBand B1, its first wearable device.
Today, Samsung announced the launch of new smart watches – Samsung Galaxy Gear 2 and Gear 2 Neo on its own OS, dumping Android OS platform.
LG today announced it will not announce a new smartphone at the MWC 2014. But it will showcase recently announced smartphones.
Recently, Gartner said Huawei smartphone sales grew 85.3 percent in the fourth quarter of 2013 to maintain the No. 3 spot year over year. Huawei has moved quickly to align its organization to focus on the global market. Huawei’s overseas expansion delivered strong results in the fourth quarter of 2013, with growth in the Middle East and Africa, Asia/Pacific, Latin America and Europe.
Huawei has increased its global smartphone market share to 4.8 percent in 2013 from 4 percent in 2012. It is the third largest smartphone vendor now based on volume market share.
While Huawei is expanding its MediaPad devices two new additions, it also added its first wearable device at GSMA Mobile World Congress 2014.
Huawei MediaPad X1 is the world’s slimmest 7-inch LTE Cat4-enabled phablet.
Huawei MediaPad M1 is a 8-inch device for entertainment lovers. Both are 4G LTE-enabled devices, the company said.
