Huawei maintains #1 rank in Chinese smartphone market in 2Q 2016

china-mobile-usersThe Chinese Smartphone Industry, 2Q 2016 report from Research and Markets finds that the Chinese smartphone industry’s shipment volume reached around 129.2 million units in the second quarter of 2016, up 13.9 percent year on year.

By shipment volume, Huawei continued to lead the market with around 18.4 million units of smartphones.

Oppo found itself as the second-biggest smartphone brand in China with over 15 million smartphones shipped in this quarter, said the report.

Xiaomi fell to the third position, leading ahead of Vivo by only a small margin.

Meanwhile, Apple and Samusng stayed at fifth and sixth with around 8.3 million and 7.3 million units of smartphones, respectively.

The top four vendors, namely Huawie, Oppo, Xiaomi, and Vivo, had collectively represented around 48% of the Chinese smartphone market in the second quarter of 2016.

Major smartphone makers launched 380 new models during the April-June period, the report said.
