BlackBerry COO, CMO resigned to support restructuring

Smartphone vendor BlackBerry on Monday said its chief operating officer Kristian Tear and chief marketing officer Frank Boulben will step down.

The resignation is part of the restructuring of BlackBerry, which recently abandoned its plan to get an investor though there were investor interests.

It is not known whether the company would look for a new COO.

Earlier, BlackBerry CEO, who handled the launch of BlackBerry 10 OS and a slew of smartphones, had resigned.

The resignations are expected to assist John Chen, the new CEO of BlackBerry, to revive the phone business.

BlackBerry is betting big on its strong cash position and expecting more support from enterprises globally.
