BR.Digital Boosts Network Capacity with Ciena’s High-Speed WaveLogic 6 Extreme Technology

BR.Digital, a Brazilian communication service provider, upgraded its network using Ciena’s WaveLogic 6 Extreme (WL6e) technology. The upgrade supports a single wavelength transmission of 1.1 terabits per second over distances exceeding 800 kilometers, addressing the demand for high-capacity connectivity in Brazil. This deployment increases network throughput and optimizes the use of the existing optical spectrum. The upgrade allows BR.Digital to scale its infrastructure and improve service delivery to meet customer and market needs. Ciena’s WaveLogic 6 Extreme technology uses 3nm CMOS for networking and supports coherent digital signal processing at 200 GBaud. This reduces space and power requirements in optical transport systems while enabling higher-speed connectivity and cost reduction.

Nokia and ProRail Modernize Dutch Railway Network with Cloud-Native Upgrade

Nokia is working with ProRail to upgrade the Netherlands’ GSM-R network to a cloud-native core. The four-year project will replace the existing 2G infrastructure and prepare the network for the Future Railway Mobile Communication System (FRMCS). The upgrade includes deploying cloud-native components such as the Nokia Assurance Center, Packet Core, Registers, Intelligent Network, and Data Center Fabric. Network management will use MantaRay NM for automation, Archive Cloud for backups, and the Nokia Network Services Platform for managing IP, optical, and microwave networks. The migration aims to improve operational efficiency and support future railway communications.
