World’s First Telco Fraud Alliance Strengthens Real-Time Cyber Defense

Swisscom and Sunrise have launched the world’s first telecommunications fraud risk consortium, enabling the two Swiss operators to share real-time intelligence on fraudulent activity through the LexisNexis Risk Intelligence Consortium. The initiative allows both companies to exchange privacy-protected risk signals so that fraud detected by one operator can immediately help prevent similar attacks on the other. The collaboration addresses the growing trend of fraudsters moving between telecom providers after being blocked. By creating a shared intelligence network, the consortium aims to improve fraud detection, reduce financial crime, strengthen customer protection, and enhance the security of Switzerland’s digital communications ecosystem while establishing a potential model for broader telecom industry collaboration.

VIAVI Joins European 6G Security Project to Build AI-Powered Cyber Defenses

VIAVI Solutions has joined the European Union-funded SHIELD-6G consortium, securing $1.1 million in funding through the Smart Networks and Services Joint Undertaking and Horizon Europe program. The project aims to develop an AI-driven Cyber Threat Intelligence platform that will strengthen security for future 6G networks against increasingly sophisticated cyber threats, including quantum-enabled attacks. VIAVI will contribute its expertise in network testing and validation to develop advanced security testing capabilities that ensure interoperability, regulatory compliance, and resilient network performance. The initiative reinforces Europe’s efforts to build secure next-generation wireless infrastructure while accelerating the development of trusted 6G technologies for operators, enterprises, and governments.

GSMA Warns Renewable Energy Access Is Key to Mobile Industry’s Net Zero Future

The global mobile industry has reduced its operational carbon emissions by 13 percent since 2019 despite a 10 percent increase in mobile connections and data traffic growing more than fourfold, according to the GSMA’s Mobile Net Zero 2026 report. Covering more than 110 operators representing 85 percent of global mobile connections, the report found emissions declined by 5 percent in 2024 alone. However, GSMA warned that limited access to affordable renewable energy, particularly in emerging markets, threatens progress toward achieving net zero by 2050. The industry is urging governments to accelerate clean energy investments and supportive policies to help operators reduce emissions while strengthening network resilience and energy security.
