Korea Joins Global Telecom API Push with Aduna–SK telink Deal

Aduna and SK telink, a subsidiary of SK Telecom, signed a Memorandum of Understanding to integrate Korea into the global network API ecosystem. The collaboration builds on the CAMARA open-source project to provide standardized telecom APIs, enabling developers to access core network capabilities through a unified platform. The initial focus is on security and identity APIs, including Number Verification, SIM Swap detection, and Know Your Customer (KYC).

Charleston County Set for Major Fiber Boost as Lumos and T-Mobile Fiber Connect 50,000+ Locations

Lumos, part of T-Mobile Fiber, announced expansion into Charleston County, South Carolina, with plans to build more than 500 miles of fiber to connect over 50,000 homes, small businesses, and multifamily units in Mount Pleasant and surrounding areas. T-Mobile Fiber will provide internet services to residential customers, while Lumos will focus on large businesses and bulk multi-unit properties. The fiber infrastructure is designed to support remote work, education, telehealth, and other digital applications that require reliable, high-capacity connectivity. Engineering work has started, and construction is scheduled to begin soon, with residents and businesses able to register interest and check service availability on the T-Mobile Fiber platform.

Telefonica Drives European Telecom Shake-Up Through M&A Moves

Telefonica is pursuing mergers and acquisitions (M&A) to reshape the European telecom sector. CEO Marc Murtra plans to sell its Latin American units, including operations in Argentina, Uruguay, Chile, Mexico, and Ecuador, potentially raising €3.6 billion ($4.21 billion) for acquisitions in Germany, the UK, Spain, and Brazil. Murtra advocates easing EU restrictions on telecom consolidation, citing that Europe’s fragmented market limits competitiveness, and proposes a framework where companies can expand in exchange for investing in infrastructure. Potential targets include Vodafone Spain, 1&1 in Germany, Brazilian assets, and Liberty’s stake in Virgin Media O2, Reuters reports.
