SES & K2 Space Join Forces to Revolutionize Global Connectivity with ‘meoSphere’

SES has partnered with K2 Space to accelerate the development of its next-generation medium Earth orbit satellite network, meoSphere, targeted for launch by 2030. The project will start with 28 high-power satellites, integrating SES’s software-defined payloads with K2 Space’s satellite platforms to significantly enhance global connectivity. Designed as a flexible, multi-mission system, meoSphere aims to serve government, mobility, and telecom sectors with faster speeds, lower latency, and improved network resilience. The collaboration is expected to streamline satellite production, reduce deployment costs, and enable more scalable expansion of advanced communication infrastructure worldwide.

Undersea Internet on Edge: Iran Conflict Sparks Disruption Fears for India

India is bracing for potential internet disruptions as the ongoing Iran conflict threatens critical subsea cable networks that carry vast global data traffic. The government has asked telecom and cable operators to prepare contingency plans amid fears that tensions in the Persian Gulf and Red Sea could delay new cable projects, halt maintenance, or even damage existing infrastructure. These routes are vital for connectivity between India, Europe, and other regions. Experts warn that any disruption could impact data flows, banking systems, and digital services.

Stay Connected Anywhere: Samsung Brings Satellite Communication to More Galaxy Smartphones

Samsung Electronics is broadening satellite communication (SATCOM) support for its Galaxy smartphones, extending beyond earlier regions to include North America, Europe, and Japan. This expansion allows users to stay connected in remote areas where regular mobile networks may be weak or unavailable and enhances emergency communication capabilities. The rollout will cover more Galaxy models and involve partnerships with mobile carriers like T‑Mobile/Starlink and Verizon in the U.S., Virgin Media O2 in Europe, and Japanese operators such as KDDI, SoftBank, and docomo.
