Nokia to Power Bangkok’s MRT Orange Line with Mission-Critical IP/MPLS Backbone Network

Nokia has partnered with ST Engineering and First One Systems to deploy an IP/MPLS-based Backbone Transmission Network (BTN) for Bangkok Expressway and Metro Public Company’s (BEM) new MRT Orange Line. Expected to be completed by 2030, the project will deliver a secure, high-capacity, and low-latency network to support key railway operations such as CCTV, public announcements, passenger information, radio communication, and SCADA systems. The 35.9 km Orange Line will link the eastern and western parts of Bangkok, featuring both underground and elevated sections. Nokia will build two BTNs — 10G and 40G — using its 7250 Interconnect Router, 7210 Service Access System, and Service Platform, enabling BEM to streamline maintenance and gain real-time network visibility.

Mediacom Boosts Iowa’s Connectivity with Multi-Gig Symmetrical Internet Upgrade

Mediacom Communications has completed multi-gig and symmetrical speed upgrades in Des Moines and Cedar Rapids, Iowa, extending faster broadband to about 200,000 homes and businesses. The company implemented the upgrade using its existing fiber-rich network architecture without requiring new cable installations or ground work. New internet tiers include Internet 300 (300 Mbps download/100 Mbps upload), Internet 1 Gig Symmetrical (1,000 Mbps download/upload), and Internet 2Gb Unlimited (2,000 Mbps download/1,000 Mbps upload). Mediacom plans to expand capacity up to 10 Gbps in future phases to support data-heavy applications and connectivity growth. The company also launched Xtream Connect, a 100 Mbps download/20 Mbps upload plan for qualifying households under federal assistance programs.

Aeris Scales Global IoT and Fixed Wireless Access Network to Meet Enterprise Demand

Aeris announced the expansion of its global partner ecosystem to address rising demand for secure Internet of Things (IoT) and Fixed Wireless Access (FWA) solutions. The program involves technology advisors, distributors, VARs, MSPs, OEMs, and carriers to deliver scalable connectivity services worldwide. Aeris introduced the IoT Accelerator for connectivity management and the IoT Watchtower for security, monitoring, and analytics. These platforms enable unified management, device visibility, and zero-trust protection for enterprises in sectors such as retail, healthcare, and manufacturing. The initiative supports the shift from basic connectivity to full IoT lifecycle management. Market reports project the IoT market to grow from $1.4 trillion in 2024 to $5.3 trillion by 2034, and FWA from $36.5 billion in 2024 to $127.6 billion by 2032.
