Ericsson Signals More Job Cuts Amid Sluggish 5G Market
Swedish telecom equipment maker Ericsson has announced it will continue reducing its workforce, CEO Borje Ekholm said following the company’s latest earnings call. Over the past year, Ericsson has already eliminated around 5,000 jobs and now plans additional layoffs, including up to 1,600 positions in Sweden announced earlier this month. The job cuts are part of a broader strategy to reduce costs and maintain profitability amid a slower-than-expected global 5G rollout. Despite these workforce reductions, the company reported strong earnings, showing that Ericsson is balancing operational efficiency with ongoing investment in technology and competitiveness in the increasingly challenging telecom equipment market.
