Converge and Sarawak Plan SEA-H2X Subsea Cable Connection to Malaysia

Converge ICT Solutions is working with Sarawak Digital Economy Corporation to extend the SEA-H2X submarine cable system into Sarawak, Malaysia, adding another connectivity point to the high-capacity Asian network. SEA-H2X spans approximately 6,000 km and links Hong Kong and Singapore with connections involving the Philippines, Thailand and Hainan. The system has a design capacity of around 200 Tbps. Converge’s Philippine landing is in La Union. A Sarawak connection would provide additional international capacity and route diversity for Malaysia while giving enterprises, data centers and cloud providers another path into major Asian connectivity hubs. The agreement also expands Converge’s international infrastructure strategy beyond the Philippines as AI, cloud and hyperscale data traffic increases across Southeast Asia. Bilyonaryo Business

Converge’s 240 Tbps Bifrost Cable Absorbs Philippines–Singapore Network Disruption

Converge ICT Solutions has disclosed additional operational details showing how its new Bifrost submarine cable protected customers during the recent Philippines–Singapore cable failure. Converge immediately rerouted international traffic through Bifrost, allowing its network to maintain normal or near-normal services despite the outage affecting the regional route. Bifrost stretches roughly 20,000 km and has 240 Tbps of design capacity, connecting the Philippines through Davao with Singapore, Indonesia, Guam and the United States. Converge owns a fiber pair in the system and is the Philippine landing party. Together with the 6,000-km, 200-Tbps SEA-H2X system, Bifrost substantially increases the operator’s international path diversity and demonstrates the practical resilience value of investing in multiple independent subsea routes.

Telstra Launches Perth–Sydney Aura Fibre Route in $1.8 Billion Infrastructure Expansion

Telstra has activated the Perth–Sydney route of its Aura Network, strengthening connectivity between Western Australia, eastern states and international subsea cable networks. The network’s longest route links cloud, data centre and business hubs, supporting mining, defence and other industries requiring reliable connectivity. Aura forms part of Telstra’s $1.8 billion investment in Australian digital infrastructure. Telstra has built 9,000km of the planned 14,000km network, with active routes connecting Sydney, Melbourne and Canberra. The network is designed to deliver up to 35 times more fibre capacity per path than conventional routes. Telstra-commissioned Oxford Economics research estimates Western Australia’s digital economy could expand from $16.8 billion in FY25 to approximately $89.1 billion by FY40 under an accelerated digital adoption scenario, supported by high-capacity connectivity.
