Batelco and Ericsson have expanded their partnership to accelerate 5G innovation across Bahrain. The deal includes major investment in Ericsson’s advanced radio access solutions, energy-efficient hardware and environmental battery systems, strengthening nationwide coverage for residential, commercial, hospitality and industrial customers. Ericsson will also upgrade Batelco’s cloud-driven core network to enable future services such as IoT, 5G Advanced and AI-based operations.
Zambia Cracks Down: 21-Day Deadline for Telecoms to Fix Failing Networks
ZICTA has issued a strict 21-day ultimatum to Zambia’s telecom operators, demanding immediate action to improve poor network quality, frequent call drops and weak rural connectivity. The regulator is pushing companies to invest in stronger network capacity, wider rural coverage, backup power and renewable energy solutions like solar to ensure reliable service. Quality-of-Service benchmarks will be enforced and consumer complaints will be monitored through a toll-free line, signalling tougher regulation and more transparency for users.
