Wireless Logic’s Arqia to Acquire Algar Telecom’s IoT Connectivity Business
Wireless Logic’s Brazilian business Arqia is set to acquire Algar Telecom’s IoT connectivity operations under a binding agreement, expanding its presence in Brazil’s Internet of Things market. Following regulatory approval, the business will become part of Arqia, strengthening its portfolio of mobile and IoT connectivity services for enterprise customers. The transaction comes as IoT connectivity expands across enterprise applications. For Algar Telecom, the deal transfers its IoT connectivity activities to a specialist provider, while Arqia gains additional scale and capabilities in Brazil. The acquisition supports Wireless Logic’s broader international IoT strategy and reinforces Arqia’s position in the connected-device market. The deal strengthens enterprise IoT connectivity.
Chunghwa Telecom and Nokia Team Up to Advance AI-RAN and 6G
Chunghwa Telecom and Nokia have signed a memorandum of understanding to research and validate artificial intelligence radio access network technologies for advanced 5G and future 6G networks. Their collaboration will focus on AI-RAN, network automation and edge inference, with both companies testing AI models for 5G-Advanced and 6G. AI-RAN combines artificial intelligence with radio network infrastructure and can use accelerated computing to improve processing and network performance. Chunghwa Telecom will contribute operational expertise, while Nokia provides wireless networking, AI-RAN and automation capabilities. The companies aim to develop smarter, more programmable networks that improve operational efficiency and support responsive connectivity. The initiative aims to bridge 5G-Advanced with future 6G.
Ericsson Wins Contract to Build Costa Rica’s 5G Standalone Network
Ericsson has confirmed a contract with Costa Rica’s Instituto Costarricense de Electricidad to deploy a 5G Standalone network for its telecommunications division, Kölbi. The project covers network slicing, cybersecurity, open interfaces, advanced management and LTE RAN expansion to improve coverage. Ericsson will supply a dual-mode 5G core and 4G and 5G RAN solutions, alongside its Intelligent Automation Platform for multi-vendor networks. ICE will initially trial Ericsson’s AI-powered anomaly optimization rApps to strengthen network detection, optimization and resilience. Ericsson said the project is its first Intelligent Automation Platform deployment in Latin America. The contract gives ICE a foundation for advanced 5G services while improving security, automation and performance.
