Indian broadband market share Feb 2014: Airtel leads wireless, BSNL wired

Recently, Indian telecom regulator TRAI has shared broadband wireless and wired market share chart for February 2014. BSNL is leading the wired broadband market, while Airtel is the dominant player in the wireless space.

According to TRAI, BSNL is leading the wired and wireless broadband market with 28.22 percent, Bharti Airtel 20.68 percent, Reliance Communications 12.24 percent, Idea Cellular 11.22 percent, Vodafone 10.58 percent and others 17.08 percent till February 2014.

The total broadband subscriber market is around 58 million. Out of this, India had 14.80 million wired broadband users, 42.81 million broadband users (mobile devices and dongles) and 0.39 million on Wi-Fi, WiMax, VSAT, etc.

In the wired broadband section, BSNL has 9.98 million broadband subscribers, Airtel 1.39 million, MTNL 1.1 million, You Broadband 0.37 million and Beam Telecom 0.37 million.

In the wireless section, Bharti Airtel has 10.6 million, Reliance Communications 6.98 million, Idea Cellular 6.5 million, BSNL 6.38 million and Vodafone 6.14 million users, TRAI said.
