Telecom Lead Asia: Pharmaceutical company Galderma has tapped Verizon Enterprise Solutions to improve its global IT infrastructure.
To support its data-intensive workload, Galderma, which invests 20 percent of its revenues each year to discover and develop new products and access innovative technologies, selected managed communications network from Verizon Enterprise Solutions.
The pharmaceutical major with 31 wholly-owned affiliates with a worldwide network of distributors now benefits from a reliable global communications platform that Galderma’s employees can use to access and share the confidential data, such as medical research and financial data, which drive the company’s business growth.
François Jolles, Director of Global IT infrastructure at Galderma, said: “Verizon’s integrated solution has already yielded substantial financial returns: we have more than doubled our bandwidth capacity for nearly half the cost of what we paid previously. But most importantly, this has been achieved without any compromises on the high service quality and security levels we demand.”
The Verizon solution consists of a managed global WAN that spans 42 Galderma sites, including the company’s major R&D centers in France, Sweden, Japan and the U.S. as well as manufacturing sites in Brazil, Canada, France and Sweden. Integrated security within the WAN includes Secure Gateway, firewalls and monitoring-management solutions as well as professional services project management.
Recently, Verizon rolled out Networkfleet on the Verizon Wireless network. Networkfleet is a fleet-management solution that provides a wide variety of monitoring and management capabilities for increased productivity and improved customer service.
The Networkfleet solution — part of Hughes Telematics which Verizon acquired last year – will be combined with the speed and reliability of the Verizon Wireless network and will debut in Verizon’s own U.S. service fleet for improved monitoring, management and route optimization capabilities.
