NEC company Netcracker Technology will demo BSS, OSS and SDN / NFV solutions — at Mobile World Congress 2018 — designed to help operators to monetize from 5G services, said Sanjay Mewada, chief strategy officer at Netcracker.

Netcracker said its solution for 5G monetization is different from other OSS BSS companies. Other solutions focus on core networks, RAN, small cell and other network elements. Netcracker said its solution – powered by cloud — provides an end-to-end environment for monetizing 5G services.
Netcracker’s 5G Monetization solution brings together 5G-ready attributes across operations, business and customer layers and is available as a cloud platform or a cloud service model to cut costs as traffic, connectivity and services increase.
Netcracker’s solution helps service providers to bridge the gap between 4G and 5G. Service providers can build out their network strategies by selecting 5G monetization components as needed that require no change to existing BSS/OSS.
Netcracker’s solution addresses 5G needs at significantly lower costs through the use of an open, cloud-native, microservices-based architecture with distributed domain orchestration. The solution uses general-purpose, open-source software and is available as a cloud service to minimize investment costs, improve overall TCO and enable scalability.
Vodafone selects NEC
NEC said Vodafone Group has selected Netcracker’s Hybrid Operations Management (HOM) solution to support its transition into a telecom cloud provider.
The virtualization initiative by Vodafone will incorporate use of cloud-native, SDN and NFV technologies to evolve operational and business systems and processes. NEC/Netcracker’s Hybrid Operations Management will support this initiative by orchestrating and managing end-to-end resources and services within Vodafone domains.
“As we accelerate the transformation of our network and services to fully leverage cloud and virtualization, Orchestration and Automation plays a critical role in how we build and operate both the infrastructure and our business,” said Fran Heeran, head of Network Virtualization, SDN and NFV at Vodafone Group.
NEC/Netcracker’s solution will help Vodafone streamline and automate operational processes across its operating companies in order to increase service efficiency and flexibility. This will reduce the time it takes to launch new services and enable dynamic, closed-loop operations with automated lifecycle capabilities.
Vodafone and NEC/Netcracker will jointly demonstrate the power of orchestration to deliver zero-touch cloud services at Mobile World Congress 2018.
As customer demands change, service providers are under increasing pressure to leverage networks that will enable the delivery of new services and support evolving customer lifestyles,” said Andrew Feinberg, president and CEO at Netcracker.
