The founding members of Seamless Alliance, which was announced at MWC 2018, include OneWeb, Airbus, Delta and Sprint.

The global alliance aims to attract additional industry operators beyond the five founding members. The focus is to eliminate the immense costs and hurdles associated with acquisition, installation, increasing accessibility for passengers, and enabling simple and integrated billing.

Member operators will be able to provide their customers — via satellite technology — the same high speed, low latency connectivity from ground, to air and back again. It will also significantly reduce costs for everyone involved while creating positive user-experience to wireless customers during flight journey.

Gopal Vittal, MD and CEO (India & South Asia), Bharti Airtel said: “370 million mobile customers across Airtel’s global network will be able to enjoy uninterrupted access to high speed data services even while they are in-flight.”
