TomTom taps NDrive to enable location-based apps for mobile market

TomTom, a global supplier of location and
navigation products and services, announced partnership with NDrive, a
provider of navigation services and software for GPS units and mobile phones,
to enable TomTom to deliver maps and enhanced content to power their innovative
location-based applications.

 

With this partnership, TomTom is equipping more users of
mobile devices with the most accurate maps, points of interest, and other
enhanced content.

 

NDrive develops applications for Android, Apple iOS, HP
webOS, Samsung bada, Symbian and Windows Mobile platforms, reaching millions of
smartphone users globally,” said Luis Baptista-Coelho, NDrive’s chief
executive officer. We believe that the location experience of our users is
enriched by the accuracy and freshness of the data delivered by TomTom.”

 

TomTom maps provide navigable coverage in 109 countries
with 35.8 million kilometers of roads. By leveraging the TomTom map, NDrive
will be able to provide consumers with a full range of location services –
ranging from delivering turn-by-turn driving directions to sharing location
information with friends.

 TomTom and AutoNavi to market real-time traffic in China

 

Recently TomTom and AutoNavi, a provider of digital
map content and navigation and location-based solutions in China, entered into
a joint venture to introduce HD Traffic, a premium real-time traffic
solution, to drivers across China.
