Telecom service provider TIM Brazil has tapped Funambol, a provider of white-label personal cloud solutions, to power TIM Protect Backup service that automatically secures users’ contacts, calendars, pictures, videos, music and files in the cloud.
The personal Cloud service enables TIM Brazil’s 72 million mobile customers to syncs the backed up data across mobile devices and computers, and allows sharing via email and social networks.
The service, which supports popular smartphones, tablets and personal computers, is managed by FS VAS, a provider of mobile value added services in South America. The data is stored in Brazil with AWS technology.
Brazilians are using smartphones and tablets to store personal data, rich media and files. As people acquire additional devices or upgrade to newer models, it becomes important to have an easy way to ensure that their valued data and content are secure.
“By offering a personal cloud service, TIM is well positioned to assist subscribers with their expanding mobile needs and can significantly strengthen their relationship with customers,” said Amit Chawla, Funambol CEO.
