Viavi launches SmartClass Fiber MPOLx optical loss test solution

Viavi's MPOLx is an MPO tester
Test and measurement (T&M) company Viavi Solutions has launched SmartClass Fiber MPOLx optical loss test solution for cabling systems that utilize ribbon fiber with multi-fiber push on (MPO) connectivity.

The technology company said network operators and cabling vendors need Tier 1 (basic) certification of MPO connectivity to ensure optical network performance and validate installation warranties. Many are requiring proof of certification, specified as “Tier 1” in North America, and as “Basic” internationally as a condition of payment.

The MPOLx from Viavi Solutions is the industry’s first dedicated optical loss test set that can perform all MPO Tier 1 (basic) test and certification requirements, including the need to test for length, optical loss, polarity and inspect fiber end-face condition.

MPOLx from Viavi Solutions has the ability to meet all Tier 1 (basic) requirements in a single solution, assisting technicians to ensure a reliable workflow, delivering comprehensive test results in less than 6 seconds for all 12 fibers.

Users will have full visibility and control from both the light source and power meter thanks to an innovative technology available in the test solution.

MPOLx simplifies fiber inspection with automated pass / fail analysis for both ends of the MPO connection.

“The MPOLx follows the Viavi tradition of technology excellence paired with ease of use to maximize workforce efficiency,” said Kevin Oliver, vice president and general manager, Converged Instruments and Virtual Test, Viavi Solutions.

Meanwhile, Viavi Solutions has launched CPRIAdvisor, a remote RF spectrum monitoring system to address antenna deployment options in heterogeneous networks.
Viavi solutions for RF monitoringThe RF spectrum monitoring system from Viavi Solutions has the ability to monitor and troubleshoot RF conditions for any cell site with fiber fronthaul.

Viavi Solutions said CPRIAdvisor can support a macro cell with a smaller number of fronthaul fiber links; a large centralized radio access network (C-RAN) or distributed antenna system (DAS) with hundreds of fronthaul links.

The RF spectrum monitoring system can save mobile service providers up to 50 percent in terms of time and cost compared to current practices in place for monitoring and troubleshooting.
