Top 5 enterprise videoconferencing and telepresence vendors in first quarter of 2012

Telecom Lead India: Cisco, Polycom, Lifesize, Teliris and
Vidyo are the top 5 enterprise videoconferencing and telepresence vendors
globally in first quarter of 2012.


Cisco is leading the market with 50.6 percent market
share.


The second largest player in Polycom with 26.3 percent
market share in enterprise videoconferencing and telepresence segment.


Lifesize’s market share is 5 percent.


The fourth largest vendor is Teliris with 2.6 percent
market share.


Vidyo is in fifth position.


Cisco revenues grew 30.7 percent year-over-year. Cisco’s
50.6 percent market share is a decrease from its 54.3 percent market share in
4Q11.


Polycom’s revenue declined 8.9 percent year over year.
Polycom’s market share at 26.3 percent is slightly up from its 26.0 percent
market share in 4Q11.


Lifesize (Logitech) revenue increased 2.3 percent year
over year and 2.6 percent quarter over quarter in 1Q12 and remains the third
largest player in the market.


Vidyo outperformed in 1Q12 with market leading 82 percent
year-over-year and 6.6 percent quarter-over-quarter growth.


IDC said the enterprise videoconferencing and
telepresence market in first quarter of 2012 grew 14.4 percent year over year.


Compared to the fourth quarter of 2011, the enterprise
videoconferencing market declined 21 percent due to seasonality.


The relative strength in the single-codec telepresence
and the personal videoconferencing segments, which grew 28.5 percent and 52.6
percent year over year respectively. Their growth was offset by weakness in the
multi-codec immersive telepresence and the other videoconferencing components
segments, which declined 38.7 percent and 2.8 percent respectively.


“The high-end, immersive telepresence market has
been taking a hit lately as lower-cost, HD-quality video solutions, along with
a range of new video deployment options for customers, have emerged,” said
Rich Costello, senior analyst, Enterprise Communications Infrastructure, at
IDC.
