Spirent Advances Testing for Ethernet in the Mobile Backhaul

Spirent Communications and Anue Systems introduced a mobile backhaul testing solution designed to validate timing and synchronization as well as carrier Ethernet protocols including SyncE, IEEE 1588 / PTPv2, and EthOAM.

The new Spirent Anue 3500  provides carriers and network equipment manufacturers with a comprehensive test impairment and analysis platform for mobile backhaul.

The Spirent Anue 3500 enables the verification of multimedia as well as legacy TDM services over next-generation wireless backhaul systems including LTE networks. Combined with Spirent  TestCenter Mobile Backhaul, this offering delivers solution for testing and validation through an intuitive, easy-to-use interface which provides automatic and real-time pass/fail results.

The flexible Spirent Anue  3500 platform supports a wide variety of port configurations providing users with a means, for example, to test PTP and SyncE technologies simultaneously at 1G and 10G Ethernet, allowing validation of mobile backhaul solution performance under real-world conditions.

Gaining an advantage in today’s hypercompetitive wireless environment is a must for both equipment manufacturers and wireless operators”,  said Andrew Armstrong, senior manager at Spirent.

The ability, through testing, to simulate dropped packets, emulate and analyze synchronization wander and understand how protocols operate and respond to different conditions plays a key role in the successful adoption of Ethernet technologies and the deployment of mobile backhaul networks”,  Armstrong added.

Through our partnership with Spirent we are able to provide customers worldwide with superior, comprehensive test solutions”,  said Jason Nutt, Anue Systems director of test and measurement.

The combination of the Spirent Anue 3500 and Spirent TestCenter provides our customers with a unique solution that covers both physical layer and protocol layer synchronization performance analysis along with protocol conformance and validation”,  Nutt added.
