RCN selects NetCracker BSS, converged rating and billing solutions

RCN, a U.S.-based provider of Internet, digital TV, and telephone services, has signed a long-term contract extension for NetCracker Business Support Systems (BSS) solutions and added NetCracker converged rating and billing solution.

The telecom service provider is planning to improve customer experience, reduce operational costs, and bring advanced new services to market.

Robert Roeder, executive vice president and chief development officer at RCN Telecom Services, said: “Leveraging its new, converged revenue management solution, we plan to bring a variety of on-demand, and personalized offerings to our customers in both commercial and residential markets while also enhancing the configurability, scalability, and usability of our core BSS capabilities.”

NetCracker is the primary BSS solution provider for RCN, covering end-to-end customer and service management, the company said.

RCN will utilize a range of NetCracker’s BSS capabilities including rating and billing. It will enable a variety of converged business models that can create personalized offerings, deliver flexible billing, and accelerate speed to market for new offerings. It will enable customized packages for enterprise market.
