MWC 2014: Elephant Talk helps Iusacell pre-paid subscriber migration

At MWC 2014 (Mobile World Congress), Barcelona, SDN vendor Elephant Talk Communications announced that it migrated the first 600,000 Grupo Iusacell pre-paid subscribers in Mexico onto its dedicated platform.

By the end of 2014, Iusacell is planning to migrate its approximately 8 million customers to the Elephant Talk Software DNA 2.0 platform.

Elephant Talk also announced its newly enhanced Software Defined Networking (SDN) platform known as Software DNA 2.0 at MWC 2014.

Elephant Talk expects significant additional migrations throughout March and into the next quarter, as lusacell completes its transition and begins to rollout new services for its mobile network operator and mobile virtual network operator clients in Mexico.

Adrian Steckel, CEO of Iusacell, stated, “We are pleased to have completed the first phase of our migration program. This effort will see millions of existing pre-paid customers, postpaid customers and MVNOs transitioned to the new platform over the next quarter.”

Elephant Talk’s Software DNA 2.0 platform incorporates virtualized software technologies and a hosted, outsourced cloud-based architecture that enables mobile network operators to manage all of their core network and service management functions in a single software solution.

The software platform is designed to support a capacity of over 10 million mobile subscribers and seamlessly provisioning of 2G/2,5G/3G/4G (LTE) and CDMA standards.

With Elephant Talk, mobile carriers can reduce capital investments in new hardware, eliminate the use of legacy software and hardware as well as reduce network operating and maintenance costs while benefiting from improved flexibility and the ability to deploy new services.
