Meru Networks names Carl Gustin as CMO

Meru Networks announced the addition of Carl Gustin as
chief marketing officer. Gustin, a veteran of technology and brand marketing,
will spearhead the company’s global marketing and branding initiatives.

He brings a history of managing global brands and helping
companies capitalize on growth opportunities in the face of broad industry
trends such as today’s undeniable shift toward all wireless networking.

At Meru he
will oversee product and vertical marketing, advertising and branding, channel
and partner marketing, public relations, Internet marketing and business
intelligence/market research.

“We believe we are standing at the beginning of the
all-wireless era,” said Ihab Abu-Hakima, president and chief executive
officer of Meru Networks.

Meru’s unique WLAN technology is designed to deliver the
industry’s best support for the density, mobility, and device diversity
requirements of today’s business environments, giving Meru an enormous
opportunity to deliver uncompromising wireless connectivity to a growing array
of companies.

Carl’s deep and diverse experience in branding and
marketing is perfectly suited for Meru as we focus on capitalizing on this next
phase of industry growth,” Abu-Hakima added.

Gustin brings a strong track record of successful global
marketing strategies that have shaped brands and driven product preference.
Prior to joining Meru, he worked with companies in various categories including
large global brands and new emerging brands.

Previously, he worked as chief marketing officer and
senior vice president for Eastman Kodak, senior vice president of Marketing at
Digital Equipment Corporation and corporate senior vice president, Worldwide
Marketing and Communications at Apple Computer where he oversaw corporate
advertising and branding, as well as market development and strategic planning
for several new products. Earlier in his career he managed well-known
advertising agency operations in the U.S.

“With an unwavering vision, an outstanding team of
experts, and an unparalled team in engineering, I believe Meru is clearly
positioned to address that shift head on, disrupting both the wired networking
world and legacy approaches to wireless. I look forward to helping Meru
capitalize on this shift and become a global category leader by installing a
world class marketing operation,” Gustin added.
