Media5 unveils mobile softphone app for Android

Media5 Corporation, a developer of advanced
Communications over IP products and solutions, today announced that the company
will run a limited public beta testing in August of its mobile softphone
application Media5-fone for Android.

The Media5-fone for Android continues to expand the company’s diverse suite of
tools and services for the mobile world. With the general release planned for
August, this public beta launch allows testers to be the first to use the new
mobile softphone, and to provide feedback directly to Media5
helping to create a final product which offers customers a powerful,
seamless mobile experience.

With over 500,000 new Android activations per day, we continue to see
unprecedented demand for an Android version of our Media5-fone from our
enterprise and service provider clients and the market at large,” said Pascal
Dore, Mobility Product Line manager at Media5.

We are very excited about the upcoming launch in August
and this limited beta program will give us the ideal opportunity to gather
feedback from participants on their user experience using a wide variety of
Android devices. The launch of the new Media5-fone for Android will be the
latest step we’ve taken to ensure that our solution aligns with the needs of
our users,” Dore added.

The Media5-fone for Android is a softphone application
that runs on Android v2.1 and higher smartphones. It is a SIP Client that
enables users to make and receive VoIP calls over a Wi-Fi or 3G connection
using the IP technology of the Media5-fone. Users can hence use their Android
smartphone as an IP-PBX phone extension in their office environment or anywhere
else in the world.
