mDialog secures $5 million to monetize live and on-demand television across mobile

mDialog,
a provider of mobile & over the top (OTT) ad mediation for linear and live
TV everywhere ad insertion, announced that it closed a $5 million Series A
round of funding led by the BlackBerry Partners Fund.

The
investment will be used to expand mDialog’s offerings across all mobile and
connected devices such as the iPad and iPhone, as well as Android, Roku and
other OTT platforms.

“With
the BlackBerry Partners Fund’s commitment to mDialog, we can achieve our vision
of enabling Broadcasters and Operators to deliver addressable TV commercials
everywhere using their existing Ad Operations workflow,” said Greg
Philpott, president and founder, mDialog.

“This
investment will help us expand our lead position in Live and Linear TV ad
delivery with interactive addressable commercials on connected devices,” Philpott
added.

“The
proliferation of tablets and smartphones, as well as the continued adoption of
over-the-top boxes and cord-cutting, has changed the game for television.
Consumers are no longer tied to one device and their programming will follow
them everywhere. Operators, programmers and video publishers all recognize the
value a company like mDialog delivers in ushering in this next generation,”
said John Albright, co-managing partner with the BlackBerry Partners
Fund.

The mDialog Stream
Mediation Platform enables addressable TV commercials everywhere by providing
both a lean-back TV commercial experience identical to traditional linear
broadcast TV as well as a lean-forward interactive brand engagement experience
on tablets, smartphones and OTT devices. This allows mDialog’s clients to
seamlessly insert targeted video advertising into Linear/Live and on-demand TV
programming everywhere.
