M1 launching virtual Enhanced Packet Core network solution with Huawei

M1 on Huawei technology

Telecom operator M1 will be launching cloud-based virtual Enhanced Packet Core (vEPC) network solution in Singapore with Huawei.

The vEPC solution enables dynamic and efficient use of network resources to support Smart Nation use cases, shortens the time to market in the deployment of new Internet-of-Things (IoT) services and reduces implementation and maintenance costs.

M1 will utilize the latest cloud-computing and Network Function Virtualization (NFV) technologies to dynamically deploy core resources for significantly improving network performance and enhancing customer experience.

With software functions separated from the underlying hardware platforms, the virtualized core network allows faster “in-service” software upgrades, as well as significantly reducing downtime for maintenance and testing of new services. Through this, M1 expects to improve its operational efficiency and strengthen network resiliency.

“The deployment of our agile cloud-based virtualised core network will strengthen our network resiliency and enable us to deploy our resources more efficiently,” said Denis Seek, chief technical officer of M1.
