LINE messaging app logs 2 million customers during WhatsApp network outage

Free call and messaging app LINE today said it benefited from WhatsApp network outage over the weekend as LINE posted 2 million new users in 24 hours.

Facebook last week said it will acquire WhatsApp.

During the WhatsApp outage, LINE new daily register users spiked at a rate of five times more than usual in North America, South America and Europe.

Though the platform saw a sharp increase in new subscribers and a significant surge in usage this weekend, LINE did not experience any outage or technical issues. LINE has over 360 million members globally.
