Kodiak Networks, Ericsson launch 4G-compatible push-to-talk in Europe

Kodiak Networks and Ericsson today announced the launch of 4G-compatible cloud-based push-to-talk (P2T) in Europe.

The European launch of P2T follows the successful introduction of their cloud-based push-to-talk (P2T) service in the US last year.

Ericsson does not share specific details of the success in the U.S.

Kodiak Networks and Ericsson have built a P2T platform that mobile network operators (MNOs) and mobile virtual network operators (MVNOs) can use to offer P2T services to their enterprise and corporate customers.

The cloud service enables telecom operators to offer their customers the latest version of the P2T service – without the need for costly network infrastructure modifications.

Ericsson hosts the technology platform provided by Kodiak Networks in Ericsson’s European data center and operates it 24×7 via the Global Service Center in Romania.

Industry sectors such as construction, hospitality, security, oil & gas, utilities, manufacturing, field services, education and transportation can benefit from the P2T service — delivered over 4G LTE, 3G WCDMA/HSPA and Wi-Fi networks.

With P2T, users can carry a single device to access instant voice service, broadband data, worker protection, workforce management and mobile productivity applications. P2T service uses patented voice-transmission technology that leads the industry in call set-up and voice quality.

Luigi Migliaccio, global Head of IT Managed Services at Ericsson, says: “The latest version of our P2T service offers features such as voice and signaling encryption, real-time presence, talker priority, a web-based Corporate Administration Tool (CAT), integrated Dispatch console and the ability to augment or replace Private Mobile Radio (PMR).”
