JDSU unveils T- BERD/MTS-2000 fiber optic test set

JDSU introduced the T-BERD/MTS-2000, an innovative compact modular test set that is capable of conducting the widest range of test applications for virtually every type of optical fiber network.

As service providers worldwide continue deploying fiber networks to support the immense global surge in broadband and mobile services, the JDSU solution addresses the complexity of fiber
testing and drives maximum efficiency for technicians.

Built for user simplicity and mobility, the T-BERD/MTS-2000 is the world’s first platform solution that enables users to perform hands-free testing to improve workflow. Advanced levels of integration allow technicians to confidently install, turn up and maintain optical fiber with a single test
kit.

“As fixed-line broadband networks and mobile backhaul networks step up the transition to optical solutions, technicians schooled in copper technology are managing an increasing amount of fiber roll
outs,” said Enzo Di Luigi, vice president and general manager in JDSU’s Communications Test and Measurement business unit.

“Our new T-BERD/MTS-2000 transforms every technician into a fiber expert so they can perform all the tests required to ensure optimized performance and high-quality fiber networks,” Luigi added.

The T-BERD/MTS-2000 test kit solution reduces capital expenditure by integrating in one test platform the same capabilities that typically require multiple test tools.

Further, several essential fiber test procedures can be completed significantly faster which boosts field productivity, reducing operating expenses. The T-BERD/MTS-2000 is the latest development in the T-BERD/MTS family of products for testing communication technologies.

Huge growth in mobile video is driving large passive optical network (PON) and fiber-to-the-x (FTTx) deployments where cost, workflow, network performance and quality customer experience are critical.

The T-BERD/MTS-2000 is not only FTTx/PON-ready but also drives best practices as it is compatible with JDSU’s market-leading FiberComplete, SmartOTDR and P5000i digital inspection analysis solutions.
