Ericsson names Robert Puskaric as senior VP and head of Business Unit Modems

Telecom network vendor Ericsson today named Robert Puskaric as senior vice president and head of Business Unit Modems.

The new appointment will assist Ericsson, which is undergoing a restructuring to retain its revenue streams, to strengthen the modem business. It started the modem business after the split-up of the joint venture ST-Ericsson last year.

Since August 2013, Ericsson has an LTE thin modems business.

Ericsson says it is focusing on modems business as part of its vision of 50 billion connected devices. The telecom network company aims to become the top-three supplier in the thin modems market, said Ericsson.

Ericsson launched the first product, Ericsson M7450, for commercial use in the fourth quarter last year.

The company is also working with a tier one smartphone manufacturer to integrate M7450 in their devices.

Robert Puskaric, who was head of Ericsson Mobile Platforms 2006-2009 and has been the head of Ericsson’s region Northern Europe and Central Asia and member of Ericsson’s Global Leadership Team since 2010, succeeds Mats Norin, who has headed the integration of the modems business into Ericsson after the dismantling of the joint venture ST-Ericsson.
