Cisco announces Linksys Developer Community

Telecom Lead America: Cisco announced the Linksys
Developer Community, a program for developers to create apps for the new
Linksys Smart Wi-Fi Routers.

Six developers have endorsed the community and are
publishing apps built for Linksys Smart Wi-Fi Routers.

The new community is part of the Cisco Developer Network.

Cisco has sold more than 70 million Linksys routers
worldwide and is leading the charge in the next-generation connected home.

Linksys Smart Wi-Fi Routers are powered by cloud-based
architecture that can be leveraged by developers as they create apps for any
consumer electronic device. The community is designed to make the development
of apps simple with an easy to use software developer kit (SDK), quick
tutorials and sample code.

“We are on the cusp of a major transformation in the
home where the network can enable experiences that consumers never dreamed
possible. The sky is the limit for developers with our new software platform
and Linksys Developer Community,” said Vikas Butaney, director of product
management for Cisco Home Networking.

Several developers have validated the Linksys Developer
Community platform by using the SDK and tools from Cisco to simplify and
accelerate app development. This has resulted in the first six apps developed
by Axentra Corporation, Fresh Consulting LLC, Gemini Solutions Inc.,
PacketVideo Corporation, Stratedge Adroitent and Xoriant.

The Linksys Developer Community is launching in
conjunction with Cisco’s new cloud platform, Cisco Connect Cloud, available now
for Linksys Smart Wi-Fi Routers. Cisco Connect Cloud simplifies how consumers
connect, control and interact with their entertainment devices and home
appliances, enabling new connected experiences through apps and services.
