China Mobile H1 revenue up 6.6 percent to RMB266.5 billion

Telecom Lead Asia: China Mobile has posted 6.6 percent
increase in the first half year revenue at RMB266.5 billion.


China Mobile’s profit grew 1.5 percent to RMB62.2
billion.


EBITDA of China Mobile was RMB123.1 billion, down 0.9
percent.


The world’s largest telecom operator said its total
customers increased 10.7 percent to over 683 million.


In the first half of 2012, China Mobile had a net
addition of 15.87 million 3G customers, with the total 3G customer base
surpassing 67 million.


Data services revenue reached RMB76.0 billion, up 17.3
percent.


Data services revenue accounts for 28.5 percent of total
operating revenue.


Revenue derived from wireless data traffic, as a
component of data services revenue, achieved RMB29.2 billion, up 51.6 percent.


Total voice usage reached 2,060 billion minutes, up 9.2
percent.


Wireless data traffic accounts for 11.0 percent of
operating revenue.


Revenue from applications and information services
reached RMB24.6 billion, up 8.2 percent.


China Mobile said it faced severe challenges including
the increase in mobile penetration, intensified competition, as well as the
impact of new technologies and services that are replacing traditional
communications services.


By accelerating the Four-Network Coordination, developing
the full services and mobile Internet business, and progressing in reform and
innovation, China Mobile has achieved steady growth and maintained its leading
market position and profitability.


The company will focus on revitalizing itself through
centralizing management, specializing in operations, adopting market-oriented
mechanisms, achieving a flat organizational structure and standardizing
procedures, all geared towards achieving sustainable growth.
