CA Technologies announces solutions for building, selling and buying enterprise class cloud solutions

CA Technologies, an IT management software
and solutions company, announced the addition of new features and functionality
to the Cloud Commons ecosystem.

The new features include Cloud Commons
Marketplace that facilitates the buying and selling of cloud services and
content, and the Cloud Commons Developer Studio, for planning, building and
testing cloud-based software solutions.

“We’ve taken significant steps to
advance Cloud Commons and make it the singular destination site for anyone
using or interested in using cloud solutions,” said Adam Famularo,
general manager, Enterprise and Cloud Solutions, CA Technologies.

“Unlike other cloud service
directories, Cloud Commons Marketplace allows users to aggregate cloud
solutions and offers a seamless purchase experience between ISVs, service
providers and enterprises. It addresses a critical need by helping the end user
identify and buy the right cloud solution from the right cloud vendor, hosted
by the right cloud service provider,” Famularo added.

The Cloud Commons ecosystem helps accelerate
the understanding, development and adoption of cloud computing. Service providers,
software vendors, developers, enterprises, and other IT professionals join to
derive and deliver business value through cloud computing.

Current Marketplace cloud solutions span
hosted CA AppLogic grids, Microsoft based appliances, cloud control panels,
virtual desktop and mobile hosting, and other vertical industry applications.

Cloud Commons Marketplace enables buyers
and sellers of cloud solutions and services to compare, procure, manage, and
sell ongoing subscription-based cloud solutions, services and content.

The Marketplace provides ISVs a new channel
distribution opportunity and inbound marketing tool, while service providers
can easily add to their service catalog, aggregate richer solutions and reach
new customers with more robust offerings.

The Marketplace also provides the ability
to enterprise IT professionals to research and identify optimal services,
deployment models and providers, as well as, purchase services seamlessly, all
from one online location.

Software vendors and service providers can
submit software-as-a-service (SaaS), platform-as-a-service (PaaS), or
infrastructure-as-service (IaaS) solutions and related content for
distribution.

Cloud Commons Developer Studio helps
Developers and ISVs to create cloud ready IT solutions designed for both public
and private cloud environments at no cost by using the CA AppLogic platform. It
facilitates collaboration and development projects with tools for developers
who want to plan, build and test cloud-based software projects.

Developer Studio allows members to
collaborate and manage software projects using the Cloud Commons WorkBench
based on FusionForge software.

ISVs and developers can prepare their
applications to run in the cloud using the CA AppLogic software developers’
kit, and test their applications in the cloud using Cloud Commons’ Grid
Scheduler. These powerful tools help developers and ISVs prepare new cloud
services for the open market.

Recently, CA Technologies and VCE
announced a
global strategic alliance to deliver integrated private cloud solutions
for VCE’s Vblock Infrastructure Platforms that help customers increase agility,
reduce risk and lower costs. Initially, the alliance will focus on Virtual
Desktop Infrastructure (VDI) deployment and management, and migration of Tier
1, integral enterprise applications to the Vblock platform.
