Blue Coat appoints Marc Andrews as Sr VP of field operations

Blue Coat Systems, a provider of Web security and WAN
optimization solutions, announced the appointment of Marc Andrews as senior
vice president of field operations, responsible for the company’s worldwide
sales and support.

Andrews previously was responsible for Blue Coat EMEA
sales, and he will continue to lead that team until he names a replacement.

In his new position, Andrews will report directly to
Gregory S. Clark, president and chief executive officer, Blue Coat Systems. He
will be based at the company headquarters in Silicon Valley.

“Marc is an experienced and accomplished executive
with a proven track record of strategic planning and the ability to build and
lead teams that deliver revenue growth. He already has proven his strength and
ability while running our EMEA region, and he has the right combination of
attributes to advance our worldwide sales organization and help us better
capture the evolving opportunities for Web security and next-generation WAN
optimization,” said Greg Clark.

Andrews has more than 25 years of industry experience.
Prior to joining Blue Coat,
he was president of Micro Focus International, where he was responsible for
sales, services, marketing and product management. During his tenure, he
oversaw growth in that company’s revenue from $230 million to $450 million.

Prior to Micro Focus, Andrews served as president of
international operations at Saba Software, where he managed its business
outside of North America. Andrews also held positions at NetIQ Corporation for
nearly five years.

He initially managed the EMEA region and was later
promoted to chief operating officer, where he facilitated the sale of the
company to Attachmate WRQ in June 2006.

Earlier in his career, Andrews spent five years at BMC
Software, where he first ran Middle East and Africa and later served as vice
president of marketing EMEA. He also held executive management positions at
Computer 2000 and Novell.

“Blue Coat Web security and WAN optimization
solutions deliver tremendous value to businesses, and my top priority is to
ensure our sales and channel teams are optimally aligned to maximize our
success,” said Andrews.

Blue Coat Systems recently announced that Gregory S.
Clark has been named
president and chief executive officer and a member of the board of directors.

Clark will succeed Michael J. Borman, who has departed as
president and CEO and as a director.
