ADTRAN introduces Bluesocket vWLAN solution

Telecom Lead America: ADTRAN, a provider of cloud
connectivity and enterprise communications solutions, has introduced a new
capability of the Bluesocket virtual Wireless LAN (vWLAN) solution.

With this new capability, the company is able to provide
service providers and value-added resellers (VARs) with multiple
customer-premise equipment (CPE) deployment options including resale, managed
and cloud-hosted services.

With these options, service providers and VARs are now to
create new, profit-rich, cloud-based Wi-Fi service offerings.

Mads Lillelund, general manager of ADTRAN’s Bluesocket
Business Group, said that ADTRAN’s vWLAN solution is optimal for service
providers since it offers software-based, virtualized control and management
that is centrally located at their network operations center.

By deploying ADTRAN Bluesocket solution, service
providers can cost-effectively scale to support hundreds of customer WLANs.

Additionally, they can offer a cloud-based WLAN service
without the expense of placing a hardware controller on the customer’s site.

ADTRAN claims that the software-based vWLAN solution uses
virtualization and allows the controller to be based at the service provider’s
network operations center (NOC) while the data sessions remain at the
end-user’s LAN. The process helps in avoiding the need to backhaul user
traffic.

Furthermore, ADTRAN vWLAN has the capability to switch
between deployment models without service interruption.

The transition capability givies a service provider an
ability to meet the demands of customers as their business needs change.

ADTRAN expands Optical Networking Edge portfolio

Recently, ADTRAN expanded its Optical Networking
Edge (ONE) portfolio with the addition of new capabilities.

The Optical Networking Edge(ONE) portfolio includes a new
four-degree Reconfigurable Optical Add/Drop Multiplexer (mini-ROADM)
system-on-a-blade, which enables enhanced flexibility for service providers
