YouView selects Symphony Teleca for Adobe AIR-based product development services

Telecom Lead Europe: YouView, a new subscription-free TV service which combines catch-up and on-demand, has selected Symphony Teleca as its scaling partner for Adobe AIR-based product development services.

Symphony Teleca will provide turnkey services for development, certification and licensing of Adobe AIR to all YouView set-top box OEMs.

Andrew Till, senior vice president, Mobile and Media Devices Business Unit, Symphony Teleca, said: “This is an outstanding opportunity for Symphony Teleca to work with a major new television platform and equipment providers to create and ensure high-quality, next-generation consumer experiences.”

YouView offers seven day catch-up from BBC iPlayer, ITV Player, 4oD and Demand 5 as well as a library of on-demand television programs, films and radio. The TV service has record, pause and rewind TV functionality as well as a simple search. YouView incorporates Adobe AIR for TV to deliver seamless user experience.

YouView is a subscription-free and easy to use TV service with over 70 live digital channels. YouView is offered as part of broadband bundles from TalkTalk and BT. It is also available to buy from all retailers and many independent electrical stores including John Lewis, Currys Digital, Argos, Tesco, Amazon, Richer Sounds and Euronics.
