India will host two international conferences: the World Telecommunication Standardization Assembly (WTSA 2024) from October 15th to 24th, preceded by the Global Standards Symposium (GSS 2024) on October 14th. These conferences are vital gatherings in the telecommunications industry, setting the agenda for standardization programs over the next four years.

The Telecommunication Standardization Bureau (TSB) of the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) organizes the WTSA once every four years, making it a significant milestone for the global telecommunications community.

IMC 2024

IMC 2024 will focus on cutting-edge technologies such as Artificial Intelligence, Quantum Technology, and Circular Economy. Additionally, it will shine a spotlight on 6G, 5G use-case showcase, cloud & edge computing, IoT, semiconductors, cybersecurity, green tech, satcom, and electronics manufacturing.

The event is expected to attract over 8,000 CXOs and industry delegates, with more than 150,000 attendees, 350+ exhibitors, 400+ speakers, and 80+ sessions. Moreover, the flagship start-up program, Aspire, introduced in the previous edition, is set to expand further, facilitating connections between startups, investors, and established businesses.

Meanwhile, DoT has tied up with Ericsson for the “Ericsson Educate” program. This initiative aims to enhance digital skills for students in various universities across the country. Through a tailored curriculum focused on telecommunication subjects, students will gain practical knowledge crucial for the telecom sector.

The collaboration also includes the establishment of 100 5G use case labs, where students and faculties will be mentored in creating innovative 5G products and use cases.

With a three-month accredited course by Ericsson covering key technologies such as Automation, Telecommunications, AI, IoT, 5G, and Machine Learning, the program is expected to train around 10,000 students in the next two years, further strengthening capacity building and skill development in the sector.
