The number of VSAT subscribers increased to 277,114 in June quarter of 2016 from 273,043 in March quarter of 2016.
Net addition during the quarter was 4,071 at the quarterly growth rate of 1.49 percent, said TRAI in its latest financial performance report on Indian telecom market.
Bharti Airtel, the leading telecom operator in India, tops the Indian VSAT market in terms of net additions with 2,705 units. Hughes Communications, the Indian VSAT market leader, has added 57 units in June quarter of 2016.
Hughes Communications has 106,548 and Bharti Airtel has 64,893 subscribers in the Indian VSAT market.
Infotel Satcom has recorded maximum growth rate of 6.33 percent in VSAT additions followed by Bharti Airtel with 4.35 percent. Planetcast Media Services shown decline in the number of VSAT subscribers during this quarter.
